US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Chinese companies have resumed construction of more than 89% of key infrastructure facilities as the situation normalizes during the fight against the coronavirus epidemic, but the situation in different regions of the country is different.
This was stated on Saturday by the head of the investment department of the State Committee for Development and Reform of China Ou Hong.
“In connection with the coronavirus epidemic, after the end of the lunar New Year’s celebration (from January 24 to February 2), difficulties arose in restoring work at large infrastructure facilities,” he said at a press conference.
“Thanks to joint efforts, the situation is gradually improving. If not take into account the province of Hubei, in various regions of China there are about 11 thousand such important projects, 89% of which resumed operations by March 20.”
According to the official, in different regions and sectors of the national economy, progress in restoring the operation of key facilities is not the same. Ou Hong noted that in the south of China, the share of renewed construction projects is about 98%, while in the north – only 60%. According to him, the northeast and northwest of the PRC are returning to activity at a rather slow pace.
“Work on the implementation of large energy projects has largely been restored. This also applies to the Sino-Russian gas pipeline along the eastern route,” the department head concluded.
