(ORDO NEWS) — In 2018, Florence, Italy hosted the International Holschmidt Conference, where Professor Emeritus of Chemistry Stephen Albert Benner spoke.
Benner shared with colleagues that, according to his years of research, young Mars was much more suitable for the origin of life than Earth was at the same time period.
The scientist is sure that life originally appeared on the Red Planet, and only then, after millions of years, was brought to Earth.
In order for RNA to appear (one of the three main macromolecules contained in the cells of all living organisms), oxygen, molybdates and a large amount of water are needed.
All this was present on the young Mars in large quantities, so that the “bricks” of life – and then the simplest life – could well appear there.
Young Mars was very similar to Earth in its current form:
- Dense atmosphere
- Powerful magnetosphere
- Mild climate
- Seas (perhaps even oceans), lakes and turbulent rivers
- Volcanic and tectonic activity
However, some as yet unidentified catastrophe on a planetary scale has changed the once beautiful place beyond recognition.
“I know that most people are skeptical about my research, but I have been studying this topic for many years and claim that terrestrial life originated on Mars and was miraculously brought to our planet,” said Stephen Banner.
Mars was dying very slowly, and meteorites flying into its surface threw fragments of rock with samples of microscopic life into outer space.
After a long journey, the samples landed on Earth, where very comfortable conditions had already set in.
“Primitive life, having landed on Earth, found itself in a world where ideal conditions reigned for launching the evolutionary mechanism.
Martian life has found a safe home, and over billions of years has evolved into all this wonderful diversity, ”concluded Banner.
