(ORDO NEWS) — At the UP Summit in the US, startup Venus Aerospace unveiled its first concept hypersonic aircraft, the Stargazer, which can travel at Mach 9 (≈11,025 kilometers per hour).
Theoretically, Stargazer will be able to fly from Tokyo to Los Angeles in about an hour (modern aircraft take about 10 hours).
Stratospheric rockets from F. Dick’s novel “The Man in the High Castle” immediately come to mind. In principle, the appearance of Stargazer is somewhat reminiscent of a rocket.
As planned by Venus Aerospace, a hypersonic aircraft will be able to take off from a conventional airport at subsonic speeds, and then rush to the edge of outer space at a height of 52 kilometers in hypersonic mode.
The dimensions of the aircraft will be: 30.5 meters wide and 46 meters long. Stargazer will be able to take on board up to 12 passengers.
However, when the first physical model of Stargazer will appear, it is not reported, so far the startup is busy attracting funding for the project.
