(ORDO NEWS) — More recently, scientists have managed to understand that the B117 strain is not associated with high mortality in any way. The researchers also clarified that the British strain does not make the condition of a person who has contracted COVID-19 more critical than the rest of its strains.
Why B117 is the main focus. The fact is that in most of European countries it is the most common, and it was also previously reported that mortality in case of illness is high. All thanks to these two facts.
The B117 strain is currently dominant in most of Europe. Previous studies have shown that it is associated with higher mortality rates than older strains.
In addition, many more studies were carried out, and in one of the cases, data from 341 patients were analyzed, and it turned out that those who had previously confirmed the B117 strain were sick with completely different strains. Only 58% of people were found to be really sick with B117, and 36% of them died.
The result was not at all what was expected, because it was different from the one that was in the first three studies.
