US, NEW YORK (ORDO NEWS) — French President Emmanuel Macron said Paris and London would call on the UN to work to create a “security zone” in the Afghan capital, Kabul, to protect humanitarian operations, Agence France-Presse reports, citing an interview with the French president in the Journal du Dimanche newspaper.
According Makron, France and the United Kingdom present in the UN draft resolution in order to “establish in Kabul controlled by the UN security zone, which will continue humanitarian operations.”
In early August, the Taliban intensified their offensive against government forces in Afghanistan. The Taliban entered the capital on August 15 and took control of the presidential palace, and on August 16 announced that the war in Afghanistan was over, and the form of government in the state would become clear in the near future. The only province not under their control is Panjshir , northeast of Kabul.
