(ORDO NEWS) — Scientists are puzzled by a black hole at the center of a distant galaxy. The hole has suddenly changed its angle of inclination and is now spewing its radiation directly towards the Earth.

The galaxy is classified as a blazar – it has a black hole at its center that shoots out a jet of energy at almost the speed of light.

It is important to note that in order to see black, its jet must erupt towards the observer, which in this case is the Earth.

“Blazars are very high-energy objects and are considered one of the most powerful phenomena in the universe,” the astronomers said.

“The study showed that the jet abruptly changed its direction by 90 degrees, and points directly at us.”

Researchers are still not sure what caused the change, but have speculated that it may have merged with another galaxy.

The galaxy, named PBC J2333.9-2343, is over 656 million light-years from Earth.
