Bird flu outbreak detected in Cuba

(ORDO NEWS) — An outbreak of bird flu has been registered in Havana.

“The presence of avian influenza has been officially announced by the World Organization for Animal Health following the discovery of the virus in wild birds belonging to the Havana Zoological Garden,” the agency said in a statement.

“In this regard, appropriate sanitary containment measures have been taken, including quarantine and temporary closure of the Zoological Garden until the completion of sanitary measures.

In the event of the death of domestic or wild birds, Cuban authorities recommend that residents immediately notify the veterinary service.
