Bill Gates: Vaccine may not stop coronavirus
(ORDO NEWS) — Creating a vaccine against coronavirus does not guarantee that the infection will stop spreading around the world. This statement was made by Microsoft CEO Bill Gates on CNN.
Gates was asked what are the prospects for developing a vaccine. At the same time, Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Research and Policy on Infectious Diseases at the University of Minnesota, cited a comment that said the virus would continue to spread until 60-70% of the country’s population was ill or a vaccine was created.
Gates agreed with this statement, noting that the vaccine has two main functions: to protect a person from the disease and to allow him not to be a carrier of the disease. At the same time, the head of Microsoft does not exclude that the drug can cope with the first function better than with the second.
“It cannot be guaranteed that the vaccine will certainly stop the spread of infection,” concluded Bill Gates.
