(ORDO NEWS) — Japan‘s Shiga prefecture has become the tenth prefecture in the country where local authorities have reported an outbreak of bird flu this year. Such data is reported by the Kyodo news agency.
On Sunday, December 13, the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries held a meeting on the spread of bird flu. The Shiga prefecture administration was promised assistance in combating the outbreak, TASS reports.
Previously, outbreaks of bird flu were reported in the following prefectures in Japan: Wakayama, Kagawa, Miyazaki, Nara, Oita, Okayama, Fukuoka, Hyogo and Hiroshima. In this regard, over 2.5 million chickens were destroyed in these regions.
