Autonomous ship Mayflower crossed the Atlantic

(ORDO NEWS) — 400 years after colonists on the English merchant ship Mayflower crossed the Atlantic Ocean and established the Plymouth Colony in North America, another Mayflower powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and powered by solar panels crossed the Atlantic and ended up in Canada. There were no people on board the ship.

On April 29, 2022, the 15m trimaran Mayflower set sail from Plymouth in the UK. Moving at a modest speed of up to 10 knots (20 kilometers per hour), the ship had to complete its voyage in three weeks.

However, due to some technical difficulties, the ship had to be diverted to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. When the ship reached Halifax on June 5, it completed a 5,600-kilometer transatlantic journey in 40 days, which is also not bad.
