(ORDO NEWS) — The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) of the US Department of Defense has chosen the American company Aurora Flight Sciences to move to the stage of detailed design of an aircraft without external moving parts.
All this is happening as part of the Control of Revolutionary Aircraft with Novel Effectors (CRANE) program.
According to the contract, detailed design and development of flight software and controls will be carried out.
And the result will be a critical analysis of the design of the high-altitude X-plane drone, which can fly without traditional moving flight controls on the outside of the wings and tail.
The device will be created using CRANE technology, which uses active air flow control for maneuvering.
Aurora Flight Sciences engineers are waiting for a significant amount of work, but for now the company has presented beautiful concepts of the X-plane drone.
