(ORDO NEWS) — It is quite common to see the alignment of two or three planets in the night sky.
But the alignment of five planets at once in one row is quite a rare phenomenon. Such a parade of planets can be observed at the end of this month.
It is noted in the media that on March 28, 2023, the inhabitants of the Earth will be able to observe a rare phenomenon – the alignment of five planets of the solar system at once.
During this parade of planets, Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Uranus and Mars line up.
Scientists claim that next Tuesday after sunset, all five planets will be quite clearly visible in the sky.
“Two of the brightest planets – Mercury and Jupiter – will be visible above the horizon, and Venus is expected to shine a little higher in the sky.
Binoculars are needed to see Uranus, and Mars must be visible in alignment near the first quarter of the Moon,” the publication says.
According to Beth Biller of the University of Edinburgh, Venus and Jupiter will be the easiest to spot in the sky. These two planets could already be seen at a close distance to each other for the past few weeks.
“Mars is a little dimmer, but it is still easy to see with the naked eye. If you want to see Mercury, you need to be in a dark place with a clear view of the horizon.
Uranus is not so bright and is the most difficult to see – you will need binoculars or a telescope for this,” the article states.
According to Biller, alignment of five planets is a rare phenomenon. For example, such a parade of planets could be observed in 2022, 2020 and 2016.
Last year, the inhabitants of the northern hemisphere of the Earth could observe the alignment of Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.
In a month, Mercury, Uranus, Venus and Mars are expected to align again in the 35-degree sector of the sky.
Then, on April 24th, there will be a 40-degree sector in which Mars, Venus, Uranus and Mercury will come together.
