December 13-14: The annual Geminid meteor shower, one of the best meteor showers of the year, reaches its peak.
Solstice December 21: Today marks the first day of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and the first day of summer in the Southern Hemisphere.
December 21-22: The annual Ursida meteor shower peaks this night.
December 22: The NASA Polar Resources Ice Mining Experiment-1 (PRIME-1) mission will launch to the south lunar pole on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
The mission will use the Nova-C lunar lander developed by Intuitive Machines.
December 23: New Moon occurs at 09:16 GMT.
Also scheduled to launch in December (but this is not certain):
SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket will launch a joint mission called Transporter 6. It launches from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
