(ORDO NEWS) — Scientists have found a comma-shaped molecular spot in space.
This is a very strange and unusual object. It is assumed that the find can put all the dots on the “i” in the question of the evolution of black holes.
Astronomers from Japan noticed an unusual molecular coma. They are sure that this object is an unusual black hole, which is 100 thousand times heavier than the Sun. It is located near the center of the Milky Way.
Professor Miyuki Kaneko from a Japanese university told how a group of scientists under his leadership noticed a compact “something”, similar to a cloud, revolving around something, most likely around a black hole of intermediate mass.
Scientists call such objects the missing link between stellar-mass black holes and supermassive black holes.
Such objects are very rare in space. Today, science knows only about 4 possible candidates for this title. Japanese scientists are now conducting a study that may confirm their hypothesis.
If the results are positive, then astronomers will receive 5 candidates for the title of “black hole with an intermediate mass”.
Such objects can provide answers to the questions: how black holes are formed in the centers of galaxies, how they grow.
Scientists have gathered enough knowledge about black holes of stellar mass, and now they intend to study objects with intermediate mass and in the centers of galaxies.
So far, experts are more inclined to the idea that such objects are at an intermediate stage of growth.
The lion’s share of research consists of observations of the center of the Milky Way. Scientists record various anomalies, metamorphoses and natural processes in this area.
They observe the molecular cloud, which is only 27 thousand light years from the heart of our galaxy.
The cloud looks like a coma, but there are those who say it is a tadpole. In the near future, Kaneko’s team will try to find out what this tadpole is circling around.
