(ORDO NEWS) — Astronomers have discovered a new exoplanet, which turned out to be one of the largest.
Super-Earth is about 200 light-years from the solar system. Astronomers have named it TOI-1075b. The planet has a diameter 1.8 times greater than the earth’s, and a mass 10 times greater than the earth’s.
Scientists also noted that this super-Earth may be not only one of the largest, but also the densest.
Calculations showed that the density of the exoplanet was 9.32 grams per cubic centimeter, while the density of the Earth was 5.52 grams per cubic centimeter.
At the same time, TOI-1075b has no atmosphere.
The fact is that it is too close to the orange dwarf, which evaporated the atmosphere and melted the surface of the planet.
In fact, this exoplanet is an ocean of magma. The researchers plan to continue studying TOI-1075b.
