Astronomers caught millions of radio signals from aliens

(ORDO NEWS) — Astronomer Jean-Luc Margot’s team at the University of California Los Angeles analyzed techno signatures using a modern Green Bank telescope. This powerful equipment, which is located in Virginia, has caught low-frequency radio signals that may indicate the existence of aliens.

Scientists’ equipment is capable of capturing the slightest techno-signature, the sources of which are thousands of light years away. In 2018-2019, experts focused on 31 stars in the galaxy, which were similar in features to the Sun. In total, astronomers then caught 26.6 million radio signals. However, a detailed analysis revealed that all the signals were generated by our planet.

Modern methods of information analysis may be used in the future to identify extraterrestrial intelligent creatures, but first, scientists need to learn how to filter radio frequency interference.

Interference is capable of obscuring the alien signal. Every hour, the equipment of specialists records millions of techno-signatures, each case is subject to processing. The existing algorithms are able to classify approximately 99.8% of radio signals.

In September, astronomers scanned 10.3 million stars to find intelligent civilizations on other planets. The process used the Murchison Widefield Array radio telescope, which is located in Western Australia.

Scientists do not abandon the idea of finding intelligent creatures, even somewhere in the depths of space.
