(ORDO NEWS) — An unusual luminous spherical object was discovered in the sky over Alaska.
Witnesses reported an unusual phenomenon on March 29 at approximately 5 am local time. “It looked like something was spinning inside him,” Fairbanks resident Leslie Smallwood told KUAC. “It was larger than the full moon and moved from the northeast to the southwest.”
The object was also recorded by a camera trap installed for observations of the northern lights. She takes pictures every 45 seconds, and took six photos, meaning the orb has been visible for at least four minutes.
However, scientists have an explanation for what it could be. “I’m pretty sure this is jettisoned fuel from a Chinese rocket stage,” said Jonathan McDowell, an astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
“The rocket probably threw the rest of the fuel into space, where it froze and turned into a large ball illuminated by sunlight. This cloud is probably hundreds of miles across, which is why it looks so big.”
