(ORDO NEWS) — Asteroid 2009 JF1 or 467460 (2006 JF42), whose size is from 380 to 860 meters in diameter, will fly past our planet on May 6, 2022.
It will approach the Earth at a distance of 5.7 million kilometers, which is more than 14 times the average distance from the Earth to the Moon.
Therefore, this space rock does not pose a danger, as NASA assures. Although, maybe the dinosaurs thought so too.
However, on May 9, another asteroid, 2008 AG33, will approach Earth, which has an estimated diameter of 350 to 780 meters and is located at a distance of about 3.2 million kilometers from Earth, which is about eight times the average distance between Earth and the Moon. This is quite close by space standards, but still, as scientists assure, the stone will fly by at a safe distance.
