(ORDO NEWS) — The newly discovered asteroid, designated 2021 CQ5, flew past Earth at a distance of 178,021 km on February 11, 2021.
It is the 14th known asteroid to fly past Earth within 1 lunar distance since the beginning of the year and 5 since the beginning of the month.
The 2021 CQ5 was first spotted on February 11 in the Catalina Sky Survey, Arizona.
The object belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids and has an estimated diameter of 5.3 to 12 m.
