(ORDO NEWS) — In the central Chinese province of Henan, Chinese archaeologists have discovered the ruins of construction sites dating back to the period from the Song Dynasty /960-1279/ to the Yuan Dynasty /1271-1368/.
Archaeologists believe that this is most likely about the premises for the caretaker of the tomb of an outstanding historical figure in China, Cao Cao, built during the reign of the Northern Song Dynasty / 960-1127 /.
According to the Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archeology of Henan Province, 200 meters west of the mausoleum of Cao Cao, a brick-built underground drainage and drainage system, as well as the ruins of construction sites, were discovered.
Zhou Ligan, a junior researcher at the above-mentioned institute, noted that during the excavations in the city of Anyang, Henan Province, a wide variety of cultural relics, such as porcelain products, coins, objects and products for games and entertainment, as well as building elements, were also discovered.
“Based on the features of the discovered architectural relics and drainage structures, as well as the large number and variety of porcelain items, it is assumed that this room was not a simple dwelling,” Zhou Ligan said, adding that based on documents and records, there could be a building , built for the caretaker of the tomb, Cao Cao.
Zhou Ligan noted that further archaeological field work will provide more information on the function of this structure, as well as new materials for studying changes in the historical environment in the area adjacent to the tomb of Cao Cao.
