(ORDO NEWS) — A joint Uzbek-Italian archaeological expedition discovered the ruins of an ancient defensive structure in the Pastdargom district of the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan.
The find dates back to the III-II centuries BC. The ruins of the defensive structure were discovered during excavations of the burial mound (burial) of Kutepa in the Dustlik mahalla.
The researchers found fragments of the fortress wall, a huge ceramic vessel, earthenware, small sculptures, seals. Experts put forward a version that this object once served as one of the outposts of defense.
