(ORDO NEWS) — In the village of Kuchugury, Temryuk district in the Kuban, an ancient settlement was discovered. Archaeologists will conduct a study of the discovered finds, the administration of the Krasnodar Territory reports.
Researchers have not yet been able to identify the settlement. According to one version, this is the city of Cimmeric, which got its name in honor of the Cimmerian nomads who lived there.
The settlement existed in the era of the Bosporan kingdom. It was dated from the 3rd century BC to the 1st century AD.
An analysis of the finds showed that the city was affected by the political and economic changes taking place at that time.
During the excavations, stone foundations, ceramic vessels of various shapes, household artifacts and several copper coins were found. In addition, weaving sinkers were among the finds.
Recall that the Bosporus kingdom arose in the Northern Black Sea region around 480 BC. Scientists obtained most of the information about him from Greco-Roman sources.
