(ORDO NEWS) — A resident of the United States first received a positive test result for COVID-19, and then found out that he had monkeypox. It is reported by KNTV.
Mitcho Thompson of Sebastopol, California, said he tested positive for COVID-19 in late June. Some time after that, he noticed that red spots began to appear on the body.
“The doctor had no doubt that I had monkeypox, that I had contracted both at the same time,” Thompson said.
He added that he felt terrible with two illnesses. At some point, the American could not only get out of bed, but even take a sip of water.
Dr. Dean Winslow of Stanford University said that it is possible for a person to contract both infections at the same time.
“It’s not out of the question, of course, but you just have to be incredibly unlucky. These are very different viruses,” the specialist said.
