(ORDO NEWS) — Shooting in American schools is an extremely serious problem that remains unresolved. Many teachers and students are considering moving to remote learning due to security concerns.
Now National Safety Shelters has come up with a bizarre solution – the installation of armored “boxes” in schools that can serve as a shelter for students in the event of an armed attack.
he box will withstand an AK-47 shot, according to the company.
According to a National Safety Shelters press release , the safety modules are gray boxes made from level III bulletproof ballistic steel. The capsules are capable of stopping bullets from semi-automatic weapons such as AR-15 and AK-47 rifles.
Schools that choose to install these capsules will have to pay about $7 a month per student. Each of the capsules occupies less than 5% of the class area.

Various technology companies offer unusual ways to solve the problem of school shootings – from facial recognition to drones with stun guns . However, there is very little evidence that these systems can actually prevent tragedies.
In 2022 alone, there were hundreds of mass shootings in the US. One of the worst incidents happened on May 24 in the small town of Uvalde in Texas: 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, armed with an assault rifle, opened fire at a school, killing 21 people and injuring 18. This event was the third-largest school shooting in US history.
