(ORDO NEWS) — It took a Gearbox specialist six months of work to visualize a mathematically correct model of a black hole.
An unusual project was presented by the technical art director of the studio Gearbox Ryan James Smith (Ryan James Smith).
He enlisted the help of experts from the popular science YouTube channel ScienceClic and, based on the information provided by them, created a stunning visualization of a black hole.
See what happened:
The intensity of the glow, the speed of the stream, its density, as well as the colors at a distance to the event horizon – all this was visualized using the Niagara VFX System tool.
What is Unreal Engine 5
Unreal Engine 5 is a game creation engine and tool that Epic Games first announced on May 13, 2020.
The engine simplifies the game development process. For example, Lumen technology in Unreal Engine 5 allows you to automatically adjust light sources in games – light can be reflected an infinite number of times from any surface, just like in real life.
This was achieved through ray tracing. In the past, developers manually tweaked every light and reflection to make it look believable.
The new engine also changes the way developers work with models in games, which eliminates most of the routine work.
They will be able to load the finished 3D model with the highest detail, and the engine itself will adapt it for the game so that the object looks as detailed as it needs at the moment.
Unreal Engine 5 runs on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Mac, PC, and even iOS or Android, but only the new PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles will unlock the full potential of next-gen gaming.
