(ORDO NEWS) — Aliens could one day visit Earth after seeing humans as an ant colony, writes Sarah Cruddas, a TV presenter, writer and space journalist with a background in astrophysics.
“Even in our own cosmic backyard of the solar system, there are plenty of potential candidates for life, starting with the harsh environment of Mars, which scientists believe was likely much warmer and wetter and could host simple microbial life.
Even the planet Venus, previously thought to be an inhospitable world, has been extensively studied for the possibility of simple life in its clouds,” says Sarah Cruddas.
But when it comes to intelligent life, with which science fiction is closely associated, or perhaps something even beyond the imagination, one is left to guess, she adds.
At first glance, the universe is full of candidate places for the existence of life. So whether humans manage to make contact with any intelligent life outside of it remains to be seen.
“It could happen tomorrow, or it could happen in 1000 years. It may have already happened. We just don’t know, and we don’t have evidence yet.
Let’s say an intelligent alien race, perhaps much more advanced than us, given the fact that they could develop the ability to travel the universe, make contact with us. What would happen then?” – asks the TV presenter.
Experts such as the late Professor Stephen Hawking have suggested that intelligent alien life reaching Earth would be bad news for humanity.
“Encountering an advanced alien civilization can be like meeting Native Americans with Columbus. Nothing good ever came of it.” But this opinion is not shared by everyone, including me,” adds Sarah Kruddas.
Considering the fact that if a civilization has already developed the enormous capabilities required for intergalactic travel, then they probably already know about the existence of earthlings, given the radio signals that have been emitted from the Blue Planet for more than a century, the author of the article reflects.
Thus, if on Earth much is divided into certain categories, then from the side of the expanses of space, the Earth is one big house.
“Perhaps, although the aliens know about us, they just passed by. Just like you won’t stop to talk to an anthill on the street, the aliens do not see us as anything special. For an alien civilization, any of our messages should have represented only one planet among many “, says the journalist.
“Although the films depict how aliens visit us, it is perhaps much more likely that we will detect a signal from them far in the Universe.
Then the process of communicating with an alien civilization will not be compared with Star Wars and other films, but with archeology. life can even be a coincidence, and our existence is just a cosmic coincidence,” sums up Sarah Kruddas.
