(ORDO NEWS) — Space explorers set themselves one of the main tasks – the search for signs of the existence of alien civilizations. However, so far they have not found anything concrete, they only produce some theories.
Another theory was expressed by Irina Romanovskaya, a professor of physics and astronomy at the American Community College of Houston, who published an article on the relevant topic in the International Journal of Astrobiology.
Romanovskaya suggested that extraterrestrial civilizations could colonize the galaxy without starships.
This theory is that extraterrestrial civilizations can use the so-called rogue planets, which are not connected by gravity to any of the stars.
The researchers note that the creation of a huge starship capable of carrying everything necessary for the crew in the right volumes is an incredibly expensive undertaking, which can take many years to create.
Rogue planets may have everything necessary for the existence of interstellar travelers. Therefore, astronomers should turn their attention to free-floating planets.
However, it is unlikely that such a celestial object will be near us in the near future. Therefore, it will not be possible to test the effectiveness of the theory in the near future.
On the other hand, Russian researcher Andrey Vetrov believes, it may make sense to pay attention to what the team of astronomers currently planning to do with the James Webb telescope.
By the way, this event is not widely covered in the media. Recently, a team of scientists announced that the telescope will “scour” the entire periphery of the solar system in search of undetected objects.
And this means that if the above rogue planet is near us, then perhaps it will be in the field of view of this powerful telescope, capable of detecting objects with the lowest light reflectance.
