(ORDO NEWS) — At least 19 people have died as heavy rain caused torrential flooding in the provinces of Kunar, Laghman, Nangarhar and Nuristan in eastern Afghanistan.
The flood occurred on June 22, 2022. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), 15 people died in Kunar and 4 people in Nangarhar. Another 131 people were injured in Kunar (90), Laghman (40) and Nangarhar (1).
The flood damaged or destroyed more than 350 houses in Kunar, Laghman and Nangarhar and affected 1,288 people.
