A powerful magnetic storm could hit the Earth again

(ORDO NEWS) — Only people survived a powerful magnetic storm, which was on May 14, when two large dark spots appeared on the Sun. They were discovered by the NASA SDO satellite. It is these spots that will cause the next powerful storm. Scientists have already named the formations on our star: AR2822 and AR2832.

This is reported by Express.

Dark spots on the surface of the Sun appear in places where the star cools down to 3.5 thousand degrees Celsius. The usual surface temperature of a star is 5.5 thousand degrees. Magnetism in the spot area increases with pressure due to temperature differences, resulting in plasma flares.

A magnetic storm is the Earth’s defensive response to solar flares. When plasma approaches our planet, the Earth’s magnetic field is triggered and reflects solar radiation.

The Laboratory of X-ray Astronomy of the Sun of the Physics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences has already confirmed that there will be a powerful magnetic storm (G1) on May 18-19.

Meteo-dependent people will feel its impact on themselves. Therefore, these days it is recommended not to overwork at work, avoid stressful situations and not make important decisions. Exacerbation of chronic diseases is possible.

The researchers say that the intensity and duration of solar flares continues to be within normal limits.
