(ORDO NEWS) — Heartburn is directly related to the food you eat. It appears most often as a result of the fact that a person eats irregularly, and his diet is not balanced.
As a result, there are disturbances in the normal functioning of the stomach, esophagus and intestines. Nutritionist Svetlana Melenko talked about the reasons why people often experience such an unpleasant symptom as heartburn.
- Violation of the diet. Today, many people eat irregularly, may eat on the go, often overeat, or do not chew food thoroughly enough.
- High intra-abdominal pressure can provoke heartburn, which appears due to the fact that a person lifts weights or wears too tight clothes.
- There are problems with the digestive tract. Heartburn is a symptom of gastritis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, ulcers, diseases of the pancreas or biliary tract.
- The diet contains a lot of citrus fruits and juice, caffeine.
- Spices, chocolate or purchased tomato sauces can provoke a burning sensation in the esophagus.
- The diet is dominated by fatty foods and a huge amount of carbohydrates.
- Heartburn is caused by drinking too much alcohol and carbonated drinks.
If heartburn occurs regularly, then you should immediately contact a specialist. Other warning signs that may indicate serious illness include loss of appetite, weight loss, regular nausea or vomiting.
To solve the problem, you must first adjust your eating behavior. It is important to follow a special diet and lead a healthy lifestyle in general.
With heartburn, food is consumed in small portions for 3-4 meals a day. There should be no snacking. The last time you need to eat at least 3 hours before bedtime.
The doctor recommends increasing protein intake to strengthen the lower esophageal sphincter. To a minimum, you need to reduce fatty foods that adversely affect the motor function of the stomach.
It is not advisable to use spices and those products that can provoke irritation of the mucous membrane of not only the esophagus, but also the stomach.
