(ORDO NEWS) — A Japanese startup called H2L Technologies has developed a custom VR wristband. The device will allow users to feel the weight of objects in the real world, as well as experience pain.
According to Futurism , an unusual bracelet from H2L Technologies uses electrical simulation to act on the muscles of the hands and make the wearer feel pain.
“The sense of pain allows us to transform the world of the metaverse into the real world with an enhanced sense of presence and immersion, ” explained H2L CEO Amy Tamaki.
The device allows you to experience not only pain
Using electrical stimulation, the bracelet can also simulate sensations such as pinching the skin, squeezing an object in the hand, and holding a weight.
Emi Tamaki reportedly came up with the idea for the device after experiencing near-death in her early teens due to a heart condition.
“I realized that life is priceless, so I decided to work in a new field that I really wanted to immerse myself in, because at that time no one was doing such research, ” she said in an interview with the Financial Times .
Tamaki believes that virtual reality is a way to connect with the outside world, especially for people like her who “do not have enough muscle due to heart disease .
“Her dream is to “travel anywhere, anytime” with the help of technology, even if the experience involves physical pain.
