(ORDO NEWS) — Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) was last seen in the night sky when Neanderthals were still roaming the planet.
Much has changed in the past 50,000 years, and now we can see these celestial objects with binoculars and telescopes. But now you can see comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) with the naked eye.
It currently has a magnitude of 5.9, so it is only visible where the sky is really dark.
But as it approaches Earth, it is expected to reach magnitude 5, which is equivalent to the magnitude of Ursa Minor, the star in the lower left corner of the constellation.
If you have not been able to detect a comet in your sky, then you can use binoculars.
The day of closest approach is February 1, when the comet will be about 42 million kilometers from Earth.
The comet is visible in the Northern Hemisphere throughout the night, so you don’t have to get up very early to spot it. It is located next to the constellation Draco, directly under the handle of the Big Dipper.
Over the next few days, she will continue to move north, passing by Ursa Minor.
