A fragment of the Chinese rocket “Changzheng-5” may fall on the Earth

(ORDO NEWS) — In a few days, a fragment of the Chinese Changzheng-5 rocket may fall to Earth. The size of the fragment is impressive. It is about 30 meters long and 5 meters wide.

It is reported by the Space News portal.

As you know earlier, China launched a rocket into space to assemble the PRC space station in Earth orbit. The fragment separated 8 minutes after the start of the Changzheng-5 flight, and, having completed its task, began to gradually fall. The largest element of the launch vehicle was located in its central part. Space debris of such an impressive size has never fallen to Earth.

In fact, this part is waste waste. Now part of the spacecraft is falling to Earth at a speed of 7 km / s. In this case, the debris makes a complete revolution around the Earth in about 90 minutes. The fragment is unlikely to have time to burn up in the atmosphere.

It is not yet known exactly where the piece of metal will fall. Will it be New York or Madrid, or maybe Chile – scientists find it difficult to give an answer. Scientific researchers hope that a piece of garbage will end up in the ocean and not on land. The assumptions are extremely inaccurate, because they are based on the percentage of land to the Earth’s water cover.
