A 3,600-year-old settlement was accidentally discovered in the desert of Qatar

(ORDO NEWS) — In the desert of Qatar, archaeologists have discovered an ancient settlement. Its age is about 3,600 years.

The discovery in the desert of Qatar was made by accident. It was discovered while searching for groundwater sources.

Experts studied satellite images in the east of the Arabian Peninsula and noticed an object in one of the images that had a symmetrical shape. To do this, they used special tools that separate the spectral zones.

Upon closer examination, it was found that the outlines of the remains of an ancient settlement fell into the frame. Once landscaped area covers a plot of 6 square kilometers. The age of the city can reach about 3,600 years.

At the same time, it is important that this area of Qatar was not previously considered for the search for ancient settlements. It was believed that there had never been a settled life. According to scientists, the discovered settlement may well be the only one in this area.

Scientists note that new data indicate that in ancient times, people living in the east of the country had all the necessary knowledge to search for underground water sources.

Otherwise, they would not have been able to provide themselves with this most important resource in harsh desert conditions.

This fact becomes more obvious when considering the size of the settlement. For its historical period, it may turn out to be the largest on the territory of the Arabian Peninsula.
