3D-printed ear successfully transplanted into a human for the first time in the world

(ORDO NEWS) — An American biotechnology company has announced a successful transplant of a 3D printed human ear.

3DBio Therapeutics, using cells from a 20-year-old patient who was born with a congenital ear defect, has printed a new organ that is shaped exactly like the woman’s left ear.

After the printing process was completed, the ear was successfully transplanted onto the patient’s head in March 2022.

According to the company’s experts, the ear will continue to grow cartilage over time, so the look and feel of a natural organ is guaranteed.

Undoubtedly, there are now exciting possibilities in the field of tissue engineering for medical professionals.
