1950: UFO crash landing in Argentina

(ORDO NEWS) — Dr. Botta was 40 years old at the time of the incident. He was well educated and respected by everyone who knew him. He was a former military pilot and aeronautical engineer. In 1950 he worked as an architectural engineer for a well-known company in Caracas. The work took him to Argentina on a major construction project when he became involved in the strangest event of his life.

Botta was driving down the highway about seventy-five miles from his hotel in a secluded area known as Bahia Blanca when he saw a disc-shaped metal object standing on the grass near the road. He stopped the car to observe the object for a few minutes and see what would happen. Not seeing any signs of movement, he decided to approach the unknown object even closer. From this vantage point, he saw a hole or doorway in the side of the object. He decided to go inside.

At first, the object appeared to be empty, except for a blinking red light at the domed top. Further inside, he saw a curved sofa with four seats; three of them were occupied by small creatures about 1.2 meters tall in gray, tight-fitting overalls. Three small creatures sat in front of the control panel. It consisted of light bulbs, sensors and counters of various types.

Standing behind them, Botta could not resist the desire to touch one of the small creatures. When he did this, he felt a tough, charred texture. Three strange creatures were dead! In an instant, he jumped out of the saucer, got into the car and rushed along the highway. Arriving at the hotel, he shared his strange experience with two of his closest friends. A group of men took their weapons and decided to return to the place where he saw the UFO. However, it was almost dark, and the area was so deserted that they changed their minds and decided to go in search the next morning.

The next day, early in the morning, Botta and his friends arrived directly at the place of the previous day’s unusual meeting, but there was no ship there. The site occupied by the object was only a heap of ash. One of the men scooped up some. Immediately, his hand turned purple and remained that way for several days. The three men, discouraged by the lack of the object, began to search the area for other evidence of its landing.

One of the men looked up and saw three objects in the sky.

One, the largest of the three, was cigar-shaped, and two of the smaller objects were disc-shaped. Soon, two smaller objects joined the cigar-shaped flying object. All three objects became one, dyed blood red and quickly disappeared from sight.

Later, Dr. Botta spoke in more detail about his observations on the day of the incident. He recalled seeing vents or holes in the floor of the object. Above the control panel was a transparent sphere that was rotating. The toughness of the aliens’ skin indicated to him that they had died in an accident or malfunction. He was also struck by the structure of the ship’s walls, which was metallic in appearance but rubbery to the touch.

Immediately after the meeting, Dr. Botta fell ill with a fever and blistered skin. Doctors were unable to establish the cause of both ailments. The symptoms continued for several weeks. The test showed no signs of radiation.

Botta kept the details of his strange encounter under wraps, with the exception of two of his companions, Horacio Gonzalez G. and Leon Stringfield.

Dr. Enrique Carotenuto Botta told his incredible story to Horacio Gonzalez in Caracas at the 1955 UFO conference.
