(ORDO NEWS) — Specialists from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences discovered in the southwest of China the fossil remains of dinosaurs that lived on our planet about 170 million years ago.
According to him, over the past two years, Chinese scientists have found fossilized fragments of ancient reptiles in nine locations in the southwestern province of Yunnan.
According to the deputy head of the regional department of natural resources Chen Jun, many of the remains were discovered after heavy rains, which greatly eroded the soil.
Paleontologists have established that all the finds belong to the Jurassic period (201-145 million years ago).
According to official statistics, since 1938, more than 410 groups of fossilized dinosaur fragments have been found in the Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province, where valuable paleontological discoveries have been made.
