US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Eleven active cases of coronavirus COVID-19 were among the Secret Service of the United States, according to data on Thursday evening, May 7. Earlier, in March, the agency recognized a positive coronavirus test result from one of its employees.
However, now the situation is much more serious, according to Yahoo News, citing documents from the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
According to these documents, in addition to 11 active cases of a new coronavirus infection, 23 Secret Service employees have already recovered from COVID-19, and another 60 employees are on self-isolation.
No details are provided about those infected, nor is it about whether they have recently secured the safety of US President Donald Trump or Vice President Mike Pence.
The Ministry of Homeland Security, which includes the Secret Service, redirected all questions directly to it. Representatives of the Secret Service, in turn, declined to comment on the number of patients with the new coronavirus among its employees.
On the eve it was reported that a new coronavirus was detected in an employee of the office of the vice president of the United States – presumably this is Spokeswoman Katie Miller. A day earlier, a coronavirus was found in one of Presidential Trump’s aides.
According to the latest Worldometers portal data , the number of patients with COVID-19 in the United States exceeded 1.322 million people, more than 78 thousand patients died.
